Welford Media are looking for a new programmer to join our team.

Skills
In order to be successful for this role it is essential you have experience with HTML, CSS, PHP and work well within a team. Furthermore, a keen interest in learning new programming techniques and a passion for new web trends is a must.

Although not essential it would be advantageous to have an understanding of

ZEND or other MVC frameworks
Subversion
OOP development experience in PHP 5
Javascript
jQuery
Action Script 2/Action Script 3
ASP
.NET
MSSQL
Linux servers administration
Understanding of visual design, usability and standards compliance

Role
Your responsibilities will be varied and will include designing and developing technical solutions for new and existing websites, contributing to the architecture and development of a internal frameworks and applications. Although, initially the role is for a programmer there is a opportunity for the role to grow into an account or project manager, however good written and verbal communication skills would be essential.

Welford's New Website Launched

Yes it has been long overdue, in fact 2 years overdue however we have finally got round to launching our new website. It’s not quite finished yet as there are tons of things we would like to add (i.e. show off to the world) however we wanted it launched before 2009. The new website falls more in line with our corporate branding, which you should be able to spot no matter what bit of Welford Media you come across.

We have added a load of new features including RSS feed, Blog Section, Latest News, Image Lightbox Effect, more 3D animation, Client Area Drop-Down, a load more JavaScript etc...

Welford Moves Offices

That’s right we have just moved to a bigger and better office! Don’t worry there is no need to change your address books we have just taken over more space in the same building, so our new address is:

We loved the old office and moving (even within the same building) is never easy, but the move was necessary for to cater for our growth plans of 2009. The move to a much bigger office which involved dismantling desks, taking apart computers, unplugging everything moving files, folders, books, moving our internet and phone lines (down time 24 hours, not fun when your business is built on the internet) hopefully means we don’t need to move again for at least 5 years.

Anyway we consider it to be our 2008 Christmas present to Welford Media, so merry Christmas.

Busiest day for online shopping

The UK is set for its busiest internet shopping day of the year, with a forecast of £320m to be spent online. The internet trade body IMRG says the UK's Christmas online retail sales could reach £13.6bn.

Martin Peterlechner, of Ivobank, said this highlighted the extent to which internet shopping had "become ingrained in our everyday lives".

More employees are also more likely to be doing their shopping while still at their desks.

Forecasts suggest about 5.2 million people will be doing online Christmas shopping at work this year.

The research, by polling organisation GfK NOP, said 1 in 10 online shoppers were also planning to have their online Christmas shopping delivered to work.

Mr Peterlechner, head of commercial development at Ivobank, said this showed many companies were becoming more accommodating to employees' needs.

Some 29 million people are expected to use the internet to buy Christmas presents this year.
